My Vision of the Army of God

By Dr. Richard Ing

A good number of recognized prophets came to our small church in Hawaii and prophesied that we were part of God’s end time army and His basic training camp.  Some were quite famous in the body of Christ.

Around 1985, I was praying in the early morning.  It was unusually cold for Hawaii and I recall that it was around 5 a.m. and I was on my knees, wrapped in a warm blanket.  Suddenly, I had a vision.  But before I relate that vision, I need to give some background.  When I graduated from college, I volunteered for the U.S. Army Reserve and went for basic training in Schofield Barracks.  There was a wooden auditorium painted dark green that stood out in an open field.  I was just a buck private.  In my vision, I saw that same auditorium.  I was sitting at the very top, where the lowest in rank are usually assigned, surrounded by other soldiers.  I found myself standing up and walking down the steep steps at the left side.  Next, I was behind a wooden podium, three men to my left.  In front of me were about a hundred and fifty soldiers in camouflaged combat uniforms.  I heard a voice, loud and clear, say, “Son, I want you to teach My army.”

I had just begun to teach deliverance on a weekly basis, in my church at the time and was just an elder and not an ordained minister.

It was not until two years later that I was invited to teach spiritual warfare in Labasa, Fiji.  It was my first experience in a foreign country.  At the very first service, a man in the audience asked to come up to the stage and speak.  He excitedly shared that there were many white horses coming down from heaven and standing outside the church.  A woman shared that a few weeks before she had a dream in which she saw me teaching the students in the Bible college there.  The students were all dressed in army combat uniforms.

Two pastors shared that they recently dreamt of a white horse coming to them.  In Revelation 19:14, the Lord Jesus sits on a white horse and He comes back to earth with His armies on white horses, to destroy all evil on the face of the earth.

During our very first day of teaching, some students in the Bible college had open visions of white horses standing outside the classroom.  On the second or third day of teaching, I divided the class into teams of four to pray and cast out devils.  After the session, a student asked to share.  He was a pastor.  He claimed that while he was on the floor being delivered, a tall angel stepped right over him and stood on the stage behind me.  When he was able to sit in a chair, he looked at the angel.  He remarked that “the angel was so beautiful I thought it was a woman.  He smiled the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.  But the angel was so muscular that I thought that it could not be a female.  I thought to myself, ‘I wonder if it is from Satan because Satan can come as an angel of light too.’  Then the angel looked at me and he drew his sword half-way out of the scabbard.  It was so bright that I couldn’t keep my eyes open.”

The next day, during class, the same student excitedly shared that an entire company of about fifty angels had entered the classroom from the open door to my right.  They carried suits of armor, like Roman soldiers wore, and hung them on invisible pegs on the walls.  The student stated, “They all stood at the back of the room and just like humans, they were whispering and talking to one another.  Two angels then went up to two of the female students and began to measure them for their suits of armor.”

For five years in a row, angels were seen in our classroom and during services.  The fifth year, an older member of the church came up to me and stated that he used to worship Degei, the god of Fiji, that he had been a Christian for only a year and could still hear from Degei.  He came to warn me that Degei was going to kill me that night.  It was about 10:30 p.m.  When I returned to the cottage in which I stayed, I prayed for God’s protection.  I saw a huge angel standing over my cottage.  He was so tall that the cottage was between his legs.  He had his arms folded like he meant business.  He was so bright that I could not look directly at him; however, I could see his huge wings, the top of which were high above his head.  I could see the pattern of the feathers on the top of his left wing.  The next morning, excited students claimed that they saw many angels ringing the campus and blocking many demons that were trying to get in.

On the sixth year, there were no angels or white horses.  I prayed and asked God to forgive me if I had displeased Him, but not let my sins or unrighteousness deprive the students of the privilege of seeing angels and white horses.  Nothing happened, but the next day I was standing in the airport in Nadi, talking to two women.  The woman to my left suddenly jumped back, covered her mouth with her two hands and blurted out,  “Oh, my God, there’s an angel standing behind you and to your left.  He is so tall that my head comes up only to his hips!”  A little later, the Lord said to me, “Do not go by sight.  The just shall live by faith.”  From that time on, I have not seen angels, but I know that they are around me and other Christians all the time.  I have felt them and others have seen them.

I am not trying to exalt myself.  I can do nothing without God and He allowed me and others to see angels and white horses in order to encourage us and to confirm that He is establishing and training His true church and army for the end times.  It doesn’t mean that I am a “general” or even a member of His army yet.  One day, people were trying to boost my ego by calling me a general.  The Lord spoke to me and asked who trained me when I went into the army.  Was it a general?  I had to confess that they were sergeants and enlisted men who were not officers.  So I am just an enlisted man, not a general – just one of the ground troops, even a buck private..

OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS CHRISTIANS

In his book entitled The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation (Christian Fellowship Publishers, Inc. 1980), Watchman Nee says,

If Christians view as their greatest responsibility on earth the saving of people for their souls, then they have failed to accomplish the highest will of God.  They ought to realize that they have a responsibility even greater than the saving of people for their souls: that they are to bring this age to an end and bring in the kingdom of God.  Their highest responsibility is to witness the destruction of God’s archenemy Satan and all his powers of darkness.  They ought to view this as the chief objective of all their works.  (underlining added) P. 159.

Nee goes on to say that, “We do not demean the work of evangelism, for the saving of men and women is a most glorious task which we should never despise; but in the work of saving souls let us not lose sight of the kingdom.”  P. 159.  The defeat of Satan’s kingdom on earth is the highest will of God and therefore, our highest responsibility.

If Watchman Nee is correct, although saving souls is very important, defeating Satan’s kingdom and bringing the end of the world to bear is even more vital and the greatest responsibility and ministry of the Church and every saint.  Only then, will Jesus come back to usher in the Millennium Age.  That’s God’s purpose and will from before He created the worlds, and that should be our will.  “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”  2 Ti. 1:9. Also, Titus 1:2 and 1 Pet. 1:20.

Revival/harvest will not come until God’s people join the battle and begin to bind up Satan’s strong men that control the world.  “Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.”  Mt. 12:29; Lk. 11:21.
