I Want My Church Back

WE KICKED GOD OUT

We took away the right of the Holy Spirit to lead God’s people; we kicked God out of His church and re-instated religion and man’s leadership.  In the days between Joshua and Samuel, the prophet, God ruled over His people.  He appointed “judges” who were men in direct contact with the Lord and who revealed God’s will to the people. But in Samuel’s day, the people insisted that they wanted a king, like other nations.  The people said to Samuel,

And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.  But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.   And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.  Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.   1 Sa. 8:5-9.

Samuel warned the people:

And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king. And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.  And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.  And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.  And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.  He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.  And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.  1 Sa. 8:10-18.

Despite God’s warnings which He spoke through Samuel, the people wanted to do things their own way.  Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.  I Sa. 8:19-20.

It is the same today.  When our Lord Jesus returned to heaven, He left us a true church led by His Holy Spirit.  He did away with large stone and wood buildings to worship Him and made our body the temple of God.  He did away with the elite priesthood and appointed common and even uneducated men to lead His people.

But the flesh and the spirit of antichrist slowly and inexorably began to push the Holy Spirit out of the church and reinstate large places of worship and the elite priesthood.  Soon, speaking in tongues, casting out devils, healing the sick and raising the dead disappeared and man’s flesh and intellect took over.

The soul or intellect can do magnificent things.  It can create wonderful works of art, erect huge and beautiful cathedrals.  Fleshly skills of oratory can persuade many to adore, depend on and follow human leaders.

Today, Christians everywhere follow human leaders that they love, adore and practically worship.  They love to mention that they belong to a famous church, or follow a well-known evangelist or leader.  Their relationship with Jesus is nil and they look forward to next Sunday’s sermon more than hearing from the Holy Spirit.  Christians hardly read the Bible nowadays.  They choose to be spoon-fed by human preachers who are paid to do the research for them and tickle their ears.  They pay money to the church to support mission work, but hardly ever go on missions themselves.  They would rather serve the church and human leaders than God Himself.  Sacrifice returned as the prime method of pleasing God.  Obedience became only a meaningless word, along with phrases such as “offer you body to God as a living sacrifice.”  We offer money.

Man’s intellect is very powerful and can come up with incredible reasoning, theorizing and logic.  Teachers of the Word can be brilliant in man’s eyes and their oratory skills can be exceptional.  As the saying goes, “He can sell refrigerators to the Eskimos.”  But emotions, intelligence, wise sayings, wonderful rhetoric, reasoning and man’s wisdom can never be substitutes for truth.

Beware of preachers who are filled with wonderful words that entertain and soothe.  If they cannot and do not demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit through miracles, casting out of demons or healing the sick instantly and divinely, look out!

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.  And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:  1 Co. 2:1-5.

The life of the church has been kicked out!  Truth has disappeared.  The power of God has left.  The church is about to be destroyed.  The abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet is about to begin.

Listen!  Pastor Carter Conion of Time Square Church said it. “COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM!  RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!  BECAUSE THIS IS ABOUT YOUR LIFE.  IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT OPPOSING THEOLOGY OR CONFLICTING VIEWPOINTS ON JESUS, THIS IS ABOUT YOUR LIFE!  … IT’S UNCLEAN.  RUN!  RUN!  TURN IT OFF, GET AWAY FROM IT!  … RUN FROM PREACHERS THAT STAND AND TELL STORIES AND JOKES.  RUN LIKE YOU’VE NEVER RUN BEFORE!  Please listen to his sermon on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXPog1rKpCE.
